PURPOSE
The purpose of the Black Graduate Student Organization shall be to sponsor programs and activities that:

• enhance and promote professional and social development for BGSO members,
• improve the quality of University life for BGSO members,
• develop mentoring relationships between undergraduate and graduate students and the faculty and staff, and
• create a sense of community, for persons of the African Diaspora, within the University and surrounding areas.

CORE GOALS
The purpose of the Black Graduate Student Organization shall be to sponsor programs and activities that promote:

• Professional Development
• Academic Excellence
• Local Community Service
• Global Cultural Issues
• Social Service

MISSION
Build a community with shared core values of fellowship, scholarship, community service, and unity among Black Americans. BGSO is a non-profit, pre-professional networking organization for Black graduate students at Virginia Tech.
